Citadelle Gin unveils Newest Creation: Citadelle Rouge

Citadelle Gin, renowned for its artisanal French gin, has launched its latest addition, Citadelle Rouge, in Singapore. Despite the name – Citadelle Rouge, with ‘rouge’ translating from French into English as ‘red’ – the gin is a clear colour and does not have any sugar added to the recipe; the sugar comes only from the natural fruit. This new creation infuses a delightful balance of sweet and tart with fresh cranberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, and rhubarb, offering a unique twist to the traditional gin profile. For this occasion, So Chic has compiled a review of this brand new creation.

Citadelle Rouge stands out by maintaining the clear color and natural essence of its ingredients. Crafted from Citadelle Original Gin, the new blend incorporates the vibrant flavors of red fruits without adding any artificial colors or sugars. The natural sweetness solely derives from the fruits themselves, resulting in a pure, transparent spirit that bursts with flavor.

The inspiration behind Citadelle Rouge comes from Alexandre Gabriel, the creator of Citadelle Gin. “I was inspired to create this gin by the smell when my wife was making berry and rhubarb jam – it just transported me back to my childhood when my grandmother made preserves from the nearby orchards,” Gabriel shared. His aim was to capture the essence of these fruits using traditional French distillation techniques passed down through generations.

Citadelle Rouge enhances the original dry gin profile with an intense burst of tart berries, balanced by the tangy note of rhubarb. This fruit-forward gin is designed to glow on the palate while remaining crystal clear in the glass, making it a versatile addition to any cocktail.

Each sip revealed the meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to natural ingredients that Citadelle Gin is known for. The staff at Atlas Bar expertly highlighted the unique profile of Citadelle Rouge in various cocktails, leaving us thoroughly impressed and eager to share our findings with you.
